Update from the Whatleys, Our Missionaries in Indonesia
Here
is the latest update Moi. This is from Rich and Karen Brown, the family
that moved into our house. Keep praying!!!
Dear Friends and
Family,
Right after our team meeting at the Crockett’s this afternoon at 2:00
PM we heard wailing for Abohapiya (A-bo-ha-piya). Yesterday morning they
gave him seven deep 1 ½ to 2 ½ inch gashes with a bamboo knife to bleed out
the ‘bad blood’ that was supposedly causing his severe stomach cramps.
After trying to treat him with medicine they opted for the traditional
Moi way of blood letting believing he had too much blood inside of him. Now
after 36 hours he is still bleeding and may possibly die from bleeding to
death.
At 3:30 PM everybody gathered for the teaching. Afterwards Rich
went down to see how Abohapiya was doing and pray for him. While he was
praying he started loosing consciousness. After he came to he looked
Rich in the eyes and said “Pa-may” (thank-you). Rich fearing that he
may die asked him if he believed God’s word to be true and that Jesus was
his redeemer. He said he believed. Rich then got Steve who had
just finished the clinic with Carolyn. By then Karen had come over
because of all the wailing that started when Abohapiya started to loose
consciousness. Steve held Abohapiya’s head in his hands and began to
tell him the rest of the Gospel story; that Jesus had died in Abohapiya’s
place and paid the penalty for his sins. “Do you believe you are a
sinner?” said Steve. “Yes, I have lots of sin.” “Do you
believe that Jesus died in your place so your sins would be paid for?”
“Yes, I believe that is true talk.” “If you believe what I just
told is true, God’s word tells us that if you die you will go to heaven and
be with him. We will meet again there.” “Pa-may, pa-may” he
said quietly.
During this whole conversation many of the Moi who had been listening to
the teaching were intently listening. You could have heard a pin drop.
The teaching that they have been following over the last five weeks was now
giving them a new view of death that has been such a part of their everyday
life. Will they allow the truth of God’s Word to reign in their
hearts, that there is hope beyond the grave?
Please pray with us that as Abohapiya’s life hangs in the balance he
will have indeed believed God’s Word regarding His Son. Pray that
somehow God would use this to grip the hearts of the Moi with the realization
that He has conquered sin and death. The bottom line is we see in their
eyes a huge battle is taking place. Satan has blinded them for so long
and yet God wants them to be with Him for eternity. Pray with us for the
final week of teaching; that they would fall in love with Christ and be
overwhelmed by the ultimate demonstration of His love for them.
By His Grace,
Browns
and Crocketts

Pray!
Our next outreach starts soon!
“
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and
Christ
shall give thee light.” ~Ephesians 5:14
Starting mid-April we will begin our next outreach to the Moi. We plan on
teaching twice a day for about two months straight. It has already been over two
years since the Moi had a chance to hear the “Creator’s Talk” for the
first time. The Holy Spirit has been faithful at His work of conviction and many
of the Moi are now eager to hear the teaching.
It’s
time for them to wake up and see the light of Christ! Please be praying for
them. The teaching is long, so pray for endurance.
(Below are few pictures of some of the people showing much interest in hearing
the teaching.)
